“The aims of our hub are to bring people together, get fit and have fun while improving Birmingham’s ‘blue spaces’. Here at CET we have 16 kayaks, so we can match them to the paddlers that come on the day. We also have a brand new, purple, bell-boat that can seat 10 paddlers. Our bell-boating team Water Warriors are training every Sunday in preparation for this year’s Birmingham’s Women’s Regatta.
Each Friday we have two bell-boat trips, one at 10 am and another to follow at 11.30 am. These are enjoyed by over 50s and home school groups. We are also taking bookings for schools, scouts, SEND groups, mental health and wellbeing groups, RAF Air Cadets and are open to enquiries from other community groups.”

“With the help and support of British Canoeing and our experienced Safety Officer Andy Train- residents of Winson Green started a local paddle club on the Soho Loop Canal in March 2023. We have seen hundreds of adults and children enjoying the experience of paddling both kayaks and bell-boats on our local canal. Eighty percent of participants had never had this experience before, most of whom have now come back more than once.
Everyone is welcome to both our weekly adult’s paddle club on Wednesday afternoons, (March-October ) 3.30-6.30pm and our monthly family sessions on Saturdays (March-October). We also host private groups and kids and youth programs that are pre-booked with local schools and the Newbigin Trust kids and youth clubs.”
